January Sun | Multidimensionality of Women

While creating this musical, we grew up with a girl who is systematic, loves music and wears frilly dresses as she hops from task to task. We wrote about women in leading corporate positions, women who focus on taking care of their families, women who get married, women who stay single and non-binary individuals. Some of them are unknowingly forced into such paths and others choose to take matters into their own hands.

Identity can be complicated and arduous, because we not only live as ourselves but along societal expectations. We box and are boxed into extremes of a spectrum. Independence is linked with heartlessness, being emotional is not pragmatic and as the list goes on, the image of a powerful woman in particular is visualized with dark colours, sharp edges and detachment.

But what a sad way to see a world that is so multidimensional? Life is a kaleidoscope; so are the women in our lives.

"And she is soft and strong, and that way all the time." Those don't have to be two dichotomies in one person.

January Sun is the second original musical by FRAGMENTS. This piece is dedicated to exploring one of the significant themes of the musical.
